Leslie A Keats & Co have extensive experience in investigating Construction Companies in relation to establishing realistic works in progress and debtor balance accounts, which we have found to be of considerable assistance to our clients. As our experience has shown that prior to insolvency, many building firms inflate the works in progress and debtor balances, with particular regard to contractual claims for direct loss and expense, which tend to give a false impression of the true trading position. Our Insolvency Surveyors have the skills to examine these areas in detail and assess likely realisations, which assist in establishing the firm's correct trading position.

We have found that Chartered Accountants have great difficulty in reconciling works in progress when carrying out an audit, as generally speaking the building firm tends to overstate the position in relation to the works in progress, debtors, stock and contractual claims and on many occasions we have established that listed debtors should have been written off historically but we feel that the benefit of our expertise in this area allows for a proper and realistic evaluation of the company's true trading status at any given time.
